Summary

The Director, Product Technology ELL LATAM/Brazil will be the key point of contact for Pearson’s regional ELL Product Technology function in its LATAM and Brazil territories. The role will manage the design, build and release of ELL Product Technology systems for our customers by combining software products from multiple sources for technology deployment projects in the LATAM/Brazil region. This role will work closely with ELL Product Development, Support Operations, Commercial, PMO and external vendor teams in the region to understand requirements for technology solution delivery.

Primary functions will include collaborating with business stakeholders on strategy, facilitating communication on cross-functional projects, strategic planning, and technology delivery.

General Responsibilities

As a direct report to the VP, Product Technology (CTO of ELL) you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Manage regional product tech governance and establish operational cadence up to ELL Executive team

  • Serve as a single point of contact for business partners regarding all Product Technology related matters for Brazil/LATAM including progress against strategy/goals and associated Product Tech initiative status

  • Responsible for the overall design, development and delivery of the product and technology stack for ELL in Brazil and LATAM

  • Responsible for the development and delivery of the overall vision that underlies the projected solution and transforms that vision through execution into the solution by mapping the business requirements to systems/technical requirements.

  • Partner with global teams (architecture, development, QA, Support, Incident Management) and the wider ELL Product Technology department to facilitate delivery and governance of technology products in the Brazil/LATAM region.

  • High degree of competency in integration development

  • Project manage the deployment of technology solutions to internal and external customers

  • Establish a strong pro-active partnership with the Brazil/LATAM sales and customer support teams and engage with key customers and leading institutions

  • Engage with sales teams during the sales cycle to ensure that technology and customer operations considerations are included in proposals and costs and to deliver business development support when required

  • Collaborate with Brazil/LATAM team to grow knowledge and understanding of technology products and services across all Lines of Business

  • Provide clear communication to cross-functional team leads and senior management regarding project status, resource requirements, issues, and priorities. Proactively identify risks and issues, prioritize them, and create plans to resolve in a timely manner

  • Provide leadership and programme management across the portfolio of key Product Tech initiatives through facilitation of program reviews and workshops. These reviews will assure program delivery and facilitate achievement of milestones/dependencies in order to maximize the benefits to the target customer

  • Translate prioritized product and platform strategies into program visual roadmaps/backlogs aligned to our critical customer journeys to demonstrate progress made, inflight initiative goals and aid the evidence based prioritization of future investments

  • Contribute to the strategic planning process by leveraging insights and data analytics to inform decision making which supports continual improvement in customers’ and learners’ experiences and also supports growth and future-proofs the business

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the company

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or IT related field required, MBA preferred

  • An industry recognized portfolio/program management professional (10+ years experience) with extensive experience in working within the Technology sector in Brazil/LATAM markets.

  • High proficiency of both Portuguese and English is a must for this role. Spanish is desirable.

  • An established history of working with product development teams in an agile environment, including Scaled Agile Framework, to influence product roadmaps/backlogs

  • Strong oral, written, and presentation abilities – from C-level executives to operations and delivery teams

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to build business cases for technology initiatives and to effectively communicate the value proposition to non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative, cross-disciplinary and geographically dispersed environment, management consulting experience at top tier firm is preferred

  • Confident in working with a range of PPM and reporting tools/processes in both an agile and waterfall context, including but not limited to Jira, Planview and Tableau

  • Demonstrated passion for providing customer satisfaction

  • Current knowledge of Pearson products and services available in the educational market

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing business priorities and a strong work ethic.
